    LKD Aerospace, a growing aerospace & defense company, in business since 1983, has an immediate opening for a full-time VP of Operations in Snoqualmie, WA.  LKD is a Global Distributor, Manufacturer & MRO of Aerospace Components specializing in distribution of factory new aerospace & defense components, FAA-PMA parts, OEM manufacturing of aerospace components for a variety of applications and MRO services. Our Gladiator Technologies Division designs and manufactures high performance MEMS inertial sensors and systems for OEM applications around the world.


    We are looking for a new Vice-President, Operations.  The VP, Operations manages all aspects of the Operations department including strategic leadership further advancing ERP-based manufacturing operations business activities, capital equipment planning, establishing proactive lean and six sigma activities integral to continuous improvement in a rapidly increasing electronics assembly and testing production environment. Position responsibilities include all areas of operations management: assembly, test, purchasing, material planning, master scheduling and shipping & receiving personnel in an AS9100D QMS environment.



    Essential Job Duties:

    • Further advances and manages manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, capital equipment, labor cost collection, cycle times, production costs and personnel staffing requirements.
    • Provides leadership design to manufacturing input into the successful manufacturing of new product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
    • Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and manages Master Production Schedule to drive all material and purchasing requirements.
    • Provides leadership into the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
    • Leads management of all commitments for the highest quality, on-time delivery and production costs goals.
    • Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
    • Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
    • Performs administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
    • Manages manufacturing projects and/or programs as defined in the annual operating plan.
    • Ensures employee safety is paramount in everything we do.
    • Leads company commitment to the highest environmental standards.
    • Ensures all employees are aware of and comply with all safety, company, government, and customer policies, quality procedures, and regulations.
    • Assists in supplier material negotiations as necessary.



    • US citizenship required to comply with U.S. DOD citizenship and ITAR flow-down requirements. 
    • Bachelor’s degree; and 5-7 years’ related experience.
    • Strong familiarity with AS9100D aerospace quality assurance requirements essential. Knowledge and/or experience with FAA MIDO/FSDO quality requirements a plus.
    • Knowledge of electronics assembly and testing strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
    • Experience in a Master Scheduled MRP/ERP manufacturing environment required. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. APICS certification/training highly desirable.
    • Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
    • Strong commitment to Six Sigma methods and Lean manufacturing principles highly desired.
    • Ability to pro-actively prioritize multiple tasks, while maintaining strong organizational leadership and communication, a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced and continually changing environment.
    • Ability to work cooperatively in a small team environment and have strong ethics to do what is right for the customer, the company, and fellow employees.
    • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
    • APICS/PMP certification preferred.
