    Project Coordinator (Advanced+ Japanese Speaker)

    Part or full-time positions available

At DefinedCrowd we make machines smarter for Fortune 500 companies. Our focus is on improving Artificial Intelligence technologies through natural language processing – and we’re looking for two Project Coordinators to help with our growing work in English and Japanese.

You don't need to be a native Japanese speaker for this position (but that would be okay too!). It's more important your English communication skills are near native and your Japanese skills are advanced/fluent.

You will help us setup and coordinate data collections that will be used as machine learning training data. Typically, we gather data through “crowdsourcing” on our platform. But, there are times when we do custom projects that can't be crowdsourced. We need someone to execute both types of projects.

We’re looking for someone motivated by challenges, driven to find solutions, and who is goal oriented. Brainstorming will be a significant part of this position, so it's important you’re comfortable sharing your ideas and thoughts freely within a small team.

Building and utilizing existing networks of people in Japan and the US will also be important. We don't expect you to have 300 close friends, but you must be willing to search for the appropriate channel to execute these complex projects.

This is a great part-time job for someone currently in school or a recent graduate interested in gaining professional experience in the Artificial Intelligence Industry.

The person with the following skills would be an ideal candidate:

    • Advanced English/Japanese communicator
    • Driven and assertive decision maker
    • Planning and time management skills
    • Creativity and a willingness to try something new
    • Confidently speaks their mind
    • Proactive worker that asks questions
    • Motivated work ethic
    • Vocal communicator

The following activities are examples of your daily responsibilities:

    • Developing a strategy to execute projects
    • Recruiting groups of people for data collections
    • Crafting easy to understand project guidelines
    • Helping to localize content from Japanese to English
    • Reviewing data in Japanese and English
    • Helping to create qualification tests
    • Writing emails to users about projects

What would you do if we need to recruit a team of 10 native Japanese speakers for a new chatbot? If we need to collect video of people walking through a doorway to improve surveillance AI, how would you handle that? Those are the types of challenges we face. If that type of work sounds interesting and fun - this job is for you!
