Estimator (exhibit/manufacturing)

Pacific Studio is looking for an Estimator to join our growing team! The Estimator is responsible for pricing assigned bids, estimates, and budgets per project requirements including public and private tender offers. Work may also include project assessment, budget development, value engineering and/or completion or development of bid documents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all records and documents relating to the estimating process including vendor lists and quotes
  • Complete industry and vendor research to find new fabrication methods or less complicated/less costly means of exhibit development
  • Thoroughly review all scope of work documentation during the bid estimating phase and price accordingly
  • Review project cost data to continually improve accuracy in estimates
  • Prepare bid documents including, but not limited to, exhibit fabrication, exhibit graphics, display cases, artifact mounts, exhibit lighting and AV hardware integration
  • Work with vendors to create accurate quotes for estimating projects
  • Request clarification from the client/designer as necessary to facilitate an accurate and timely estimate
  • Attend site conference meetings as required
  • Maintain a positive and supportive work environment that encourages the sharing of information and ideas
  • Work with appropriate Pacific Studio personnel to fully understand the hours required to complete requested project components
  • Assist the sales team with documents needed for proposals, including Gantt Charts
  • Identify and communicate to Project Managers any unusual features of a bid that were priced into the final submittal
  • Collaboration with subject matter experts may be necessary
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum candidate requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in fabrication or a high-level understanding of how exhibit elements are built, manufactured and/or developed
  • 2+ years of estimating experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A full understanding of exhibit development from original idea to final walk-through
  • Advance MS Excel skills
  • Digital estimating program/software experience (Epicor preferred)
  • Exhibit design and architectural drawing plan reading skills
  • Mathematical and financial analysis capabilities
  • Familiarity with networked PC environments
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, establishing work priorities and maintaining a high level of productivity
  • Ability to exercise independent and appropriate judgment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an art/production/manufacturing type of environment
